AK SPORTS FANS-
Things are heating up at the Castle…and is this weather for real or what! Thanks to all who donated for the Samaritan’s Feet event we had at AK on Tuesday. Special thanks to AK DECA Club who helped us collecting donations during the game. All the donations and half-court monies will be sent to this organization to send shoes to those who need.

AK Women’s SWIM team won the SW Conference title with a great showing over Providence at MCAC downtown last Friday night. The Women won their second consecutive CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP after beating runner-up Providence by OVER 80 points! The Men won their first ever Conference Runner-Up title, finishing around 50 points behind two-time defending state champion Providence.
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN PROVIDENCE SCHOOL HISTORY, PROV WAS OUTSCORED IN A CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP MEET IN THE COMBINED WOMEN'S AND MEN'S TEAM SCORES!

Both teams prepare for Regionals next weekend at Huntersville Family Aquatic/Fitness Center. Congrats to Coach Keith and teams as they train to do big things at Regionals and States this year!
AK Wrestling defeated South Meck 49-19 at home last week for victory at SENIOR NIGHT and remained undefeated in SW Conference! We traveled to Independence Tuesday and lost our first Conference match 32-30. Close match as we came from 5 matches down to nearly take the match. We are in second place in Conference and have match at East Meck on Friday. Congrats to Coach Higgins and team as they continue to wrestle strong leading up to post-season.

AK Women’s Varsity Basketball defeated South Meck and Independence to go 16-3 (8-1 Conference) with an 8-game winning streak. Our JV’s remain undefeated at 13-0-1 (JV games end in a tie stay tied so to get varsity games completed!), and will also face MP to break that tie thing!!! BIG match-up with Myers Park this Friday as MP is our only loss in SW Conference play. Good luck to Coach Lawrence and Coach McVicker and staff and teams on Friday!!! Come on down to town via Rea Rd/Colony to support our bkb teams!
AK Men’s Varsity Basketball were defeated by South Meck, but held their lead all game vs. Independence for the win Tuesday night! We are 7-12 (3-6 conference) Our Men’s JV’s are 6-10 as they were defeated by SM, but won a great game vs. Independence. Congrats to Coach Craft and Coach Carver as we face tough Myers Park away on Friday.
AK Indoor Track placed well at Olympic as they continue to qualifying for states. Next action is Tues/Wed- Jan 31-Feb 1 at Marvin Ridge. Good luck to Coach Zelk and teams as we train to compete at States on February 11 at UNC-Chapel Hill.
