REMINDER:
The HEART OF A CHAMPION FREE sports medical physical screening by CMC doctors and staff is SATURDAY, JUNE 2…NEED to register for this NOW at www.heartofachampionday.org. All rising 10-11-12 graders who are going to be student-athletes need to sign up so that they get a great physical for FREE…did I say FREE??? YES!!! The 1^st 2000 who sign up in CMS Schools are going to get one ,so please sign up- school’s time slot is TBA (SAT takers can come from 2-3pm if registered). NO WALK-ONS ACCEPTED, so register NOW!!

REMEMBER, all AK student-athletes MUST have a current medical physical and one that will not expire during their season !!! This is a great way to get this done at NO COST TO YOU!!

WOW, some exciting times at AK as we get deep into NCHSAA play-offs for many of our teams…let’s see what’s happened this week and what’s on tap!

AK Men’s Golf earned 4^th place honors at the NCHSAA State Championships at Pinehurst on Tuesday! The team played well on a beautiful Pinehurst #8 Centennial course. Andrew Klasing won 3^rd place individual medalist honors with 2 rounds of 72 plus a play-off hole birdie on #17 to secure the 3^rd spot! Great season Coach Mikesell and Coach Neary…and a SPECIAL THANKS to Providence Country Club (Head Pro and AK parent Rob Bish) for allowing us to use PCC as our home course during the year.

AK Men’s Tennis Men’s singles’ player, Mike Roberts, finished tied for 3^rd in the 4A State last weekend at Millsbrook and the NCHSAA State Finals. Great season for Mike! AK also had a great match with state Dual Team tennis defending champs, RJ Reynolds, yesterday, but were defeated 5-1. Great matches by all, as Zuhair Bedwan won his #6 singles match. Our AK Men’s Tennis Team record ended at 15-2…great season to Coach Hudson and team they went the farthest in men’s tennis in dual team in AK history.

AK Women’s Soccer defeated West Forsyth 4-2 with scrappy and tough play at WF last night in the NCHSAA Districts round. Scoring were Sarah Phillips (2) , Gaby Gentile, and Hope Walker as the team defense played a great game!. We are 18-2-1 and now play winner of the Providence-Grimsley match played tonight.. We will play the Sectionals Round Saturday either AT Grimsley (if Grimsley wins) or HOST Providence (if Providence wins) of the NCHSAA Play-offs! So, stay tuned…if we are home, we will determine game time and tix would be $6. Good luck to Coaches Mercado and team!

AK Softball team is 19-8 win a win at NW Guilford last night by the score of 8-3 (hammered the ball!). Taylor Freeman was 2-4 with a 2-bagger and an RBI, and Alexa Grauer was 3-4 for the night. Next action is the NCHSAA Districts Round this Friday at SE Guilford at 7pm. Good luck Coach Bove and team!

AK Men’s-Women’s Track finished 2^nd (Men’s team) and 5^th (Women’s team) at NCHSAA Regionals at Watauga last Saturday. Congrats to Coach Zelk and teams! Next action is NCHSAA States at NC A&T, this Saturday, so good luck to our 14 State qualifiers!!
